4069 metric tons wheat against 5000 target procured in Rawalpindi division

RAWALPINDI: Punjab government has procured 4069 metric tons wheat against a target of 5000 metric tons fixed for Rawalpindi division at rate of Rs 1260 per 40 kilogram.

According to a spokesman of Food department, 384 metric tons wheat has been procured in Rawalpindi district against the target of 415 while 1454 metric tons against the target of 1865 fixed for Attock has been purchased so far. The target for Jhelum is 1300 metric tons and the food department has procured 1138 tons. Similarly, 1093 tons wheat has also been procured in Chakwal against the set target of 1420.

He informed that farmers are being supplied 'Bardana' and maximum facilities are being provided to them with a view to ensure provision of best price of the crop to them.

He said, Punjab Government had issued instructions to the food department and administrations of all the districts to ensure achieving the targets for which centres had already been set up in every district of the province as per area requirement.

On the directive of the Chief Minister, the members of the provincial cabinet had been assigned duty to visit the district and division to monitor the procurement work and ensure fulfillment of targets in the province, he added.

He said that best possible arrangements for setting up procurement centres and issuance of Bardana to the farmers were made.

A warning was issued that no negligence on part of officials would be tolerated for achieving the targets. He said the drive would continue till achievement of the target of the Division.
