Pakistan ready to commission IP gas pipeline shortly : Shahid Khaqan

ISLAMABAD: Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed the optimism that the IP gas pipeline project will be commissioned shortly on Pakistan side.

Talking to IRNA, Shahid Abbasi referred to measures taken by Pakistan recently to fulfill its commitments in connection with the gas pipeline project with Iran.

He said he had held very good meetings and talks with Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Tayebnia during his visit to Pakistan.

He said that there were agreements with Chinese CNPC oil company recently for laying 700 kms gas pipeline from Gwadar port, 70 kms from Iran border, and Nawabshah.

He said Chinese company envoy arrived on Tuesday to arrange preliminaries for the project, announcing that the company will complete the 700km pipeline in 24 months.
