SOFIA: Bulgarian consumer prices dropped 1.0 percent on the year in January against December's 0.9 percent decrease mainly due to a drop in fuel prices, data from the statistics office showed on Friday.

Consumer prices fell 0.4 percent on the month in January after being flat in December, the office said.

Under the EU-harmonised index, where non-food items have more weight, consumer prices dropped 0.7 percent on the month and 2.3 percent on the year.

The government sees persisting pressure on consumer prices this year, forecasting an average inflation of 0.1 percent for 2015.
