TOKYO/SINGAPORE: Japan's Maruzen Petrochemical Co shut its 525,000 tonnes per year naphtha cracker in Chiba on Monday due to a mechanical problem, traders said on Tuesday.

The restart schedule was unclear but the problem was considered small, traders said. A company official did not comment. Maruzen is 40 percent owned by Cosmo Oil Co group.
