Exports, remittances to help to get rid of current account deficit: Ishaq Dar

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, Statistics, Economic Affairs and Privatisation, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Wednesday said that the exports and the remittances will help us to get rid of current account deficit while our main problem is to tackle the fiscal deficit.

He was addressing a meeting of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Presidents of different commercial banks at State Bank of Pakistan here.

The Federal Finance Minister said that the GDP has shown highest 4.1 per cent in the last six years.

Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said that the remittances have increased from last year's 14 per cent to 15 per cent, this year.

He said that the economic indicators are showing positive signs and the bankers have to work hard to increase the reserves as the government is ready to support the bankers.

He said that our image is improving globally and we are committed to bring economic stability in the country.
