The show will feature the Islamic traditional art by master calligraphic artists from across the country and their innovative collection.
The display of Islamic traditional art of calligraphy is being arranged to coincide the Holy month of Ramadan with the portrayal of true spirit of Islam, Divine peace, love, kindness and harmony for all human beings.
"Art is an expression of creativity and calligraphic art is a source of great inspiration for those who want to practice their skills on spiritual designs," said an official of PNCA while talking to APP.
Such programmes during Ramadan are the regular feature of PNCA, the official said, adding "Calligraphy is a great Muslim heritage and the whole artist community feel proud on this aspect of the calligraphic art."
Artists from different parts of the country will display their collection of Islamic traditional art while master calligraphic artists will also bring their innovative collection.
The National Exhibition of Calligraphy is arranged every year by PNCA as a tradition, initiated by Sadequain during the month of Ramadan. He used to arrange/launch his exhibition of new works based on Islamic calligraphy on 27th of Ramadan which attracted huge turn out from every strata of society.
After Sadequain, the National Art Gallery, PNCA continued with the tradition. However, there was a discontinuity in past years. PNCA once again took it up and revived the tradition in 2009.
The exhibition invites artists from all over Pakistan displaying the works of master painters/calligraphers to acknowledge their contribution towards the promotion of calligraphy.
The depiction represents work in both genres, traditional and contemporary. The works received so far are from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, D.I.Khan, Khushab, Faisalabad, Swabi, KPK etc.
Each participant is asked to send 2 most recent and representative works in any medium. Accordingly 40 participants have sent their works so far.
While young female artists/ calligraphers have sent their works in huge number. They are mostly practicing in traditional expression under the guidance of their teachers, eminent calligraphers.
