Talking to the Italian Ambassador who called on him, the Speaker said parliamentary interaction would bring both the nations more closer besides providing opportunities for sharing experiences and parliamentary best practices, said a press release issued here Monday.
In meeting wide range of issues including enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between Pakistan and Italy came under discussion.
He also expressed his satisfaction on the pace of political and economic engagement between both the countries and appreciated Italian assistance for socio-economic uplift in Pakistan.
The Speaker suggested for facilitating interaction between Pakistani and Italian business communities for taking benefit of untapped economic potential in Pakistan besides contributing in economic development going to take place after the Pak-China economic corridor project takeoff. He said that enhanced joint economic cooperation will help Pakistan to address its energy constraints and poverty alleviation.
The Ambassador of Italy Mr. Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani said that his country also attaches great importance to its longstanding relations with Pakistan and assured the Speaker of his government's unwavering support for sustainable development in the country.
He said that Italian business community was keen to invest in various sectors especially in energy, infrastructure development and manufacturing sectors. He agreed that parliamentary contact between both the countries would be a source of further strengthening the warm cordial relations.
