European stock markets mixed at open

LONDON: Europe's main stock markets were mixed but generally stable in opening trade on Friday, with attention focused on Greece's weekend referendum on its bailout and future in the eurozone.

Frankfurt's DAX 30 lost 0.16 percent to 11,082.04 points in early trades, and in Paris the CAC 40 crept up 0.02 percent compared to Thursday's close to stand at 4,836.46.

Outside the eurozone, London's FTSE 100 index slipped 0.02 percent to 6,628.99 points.

The mixed but relatively stable activity reflected trading on Thursday, when markets calmed after a volatile week shaped by Greece's continued stand-off with its creditors, and the upcoming plebiscite on their proposed bailout conditions.
