Govt to hold judicial inquiry into Kasur incident: CM

LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government will hold a judicial inquiry into the Kasur incident.

He directed that the Home Department Punjab should immediately request the Lahore High Court chief justice to constitute an inquiry commission at the level of District and Sessions Judge for this purpose.

The chief minister said stern punishment would be awarded to culprits involved in the incident and they will not be able to escape from its logical end. He said that justice will be provided to the affected families at any cost.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in which an inquiry report was presented to him regarding the Kasur incident.

The chief minister said the incident that took place in Kasur was highly condemnable and the elements involved deserved the maximum punishment. He said those involved in the incident deserved no leniency.

The chief minister also issued instructions for immediate arrest of the remaining accused involved in the case.

Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Secretary Home, Additional Inspector General Operations, Commissioner Lahore Division and senior officers also attended the meeting.
