The main procession of 9th Muharram was commenced from Taziya Karbala Mola Rohri and after passing through its traditional route ended at the same place before Maghrib prayers.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Sindh Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and MPA Syed Awais Shah reviewed all the security arrangements and discussed security measurements with police as well as organizers of mourning procession.
A lot of people from minorities were also present on this occasion.
Talking to APP, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) sacrificed himself and his family members' for the glory of Islam and he was a guiding star for Muslims and for the minorities.
Religious scholars and clerics in their speeches wholeheartedly highlighted teachings of Imam Hussain (RA) and his great companions who fell victims to atrocities of cruel forces of cruel rulers.
In view of terrorism threats, the authorities had made strict security measures for the processions as thousands of police personnel belonging to different branches of law enforcement agencies were deployed to monitor the situation.
Pillion riding has already been banned for 9th,10th of Muharram while mobile phone service was also suspended in Sukkur, Khairpur and Shikarpur districts of the northern Sindh.
A large number of Policemen were deployed along the routes of processions and at the rooftops of the buildings. The residents of the buildings along the route were barred from opening their windows or sitting on roof tops.
