Danish economy edges out of recession in Q2

COPENHAGEN: Denmark emerged from recession in the second quarter of 2011, as its economy grew by 1.0 percent from the pr

Preliminary calculations showed that gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.0 percent in the second quarter, according to seasonally and inflation adjusted data, Statistics Denmark said in a statement.

The statistics agency had previous announced Denmark's economy had contracted for two consecutive quarters, in the fourth quarter of 2010 and in the first quarter this year, but on Wednesday revised up the latter number to 0.1 percent growth due to "altered seasonal factors."
