OSLO: Norway's Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Wednesday told parliament she would not take part in an ongoing public debate over Statoil's dividend payments.

Several politicians, analysts and investors have said state dominated Statoil should cut its dividend due to the plunge in oil prices, which has triggered staff layoffs and a reduction in the company's investments..

Statoil is due to publish a strategy update in early February.
