All main world financial markets were closed on Thursday for New Year celebrations.
Markets were due to reopen world-wide on Friday, with the exception of Tokyo, which remains closed until Monday January 5.

The won closed at 1,192.6 per US dollar on Wednesday, up from Tuesday's finish of 1,197.4.
TAIPEI: Taiwan's financial markets, government offices and private businesses are closed on Thursday for the New Year holiday. They will reopen on Friday.
The Taiwan dollar ended at T$33.978, strengthening from Tuesday's close of T$34.033. The Taiwan currency appreciated 2.3 percent in 2003.
