ADB-sponsored PRMP worth $500 million soon

The Punjab government has decided to launch 'Punjab Resource Management Programme' (PRMP), with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, which would provide 500 million dollars.
The objective of the programme was to reduce poverty in the province through good governance and improving public sector resource management.
This was revealed in the first meeting of the steering committee of Punjab Resource Management Programme held here on Friday, with Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, in the chair.
The additional chief secretary, planning and development board Punjab chairman, senior member board of revenue and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
It was further disclosed in the meeting that the government would introduce reforms in various provincial departments for rationalising financial expenditure and revenue, delivery of services to poor and involvement of private sector for poverty alleviation in the province.
The programme would improve service delivery with special emphasis on pro-poor sector through reforms in systems.
It was also discussed in the meeting that opportunities would be created for growth and income generation through private sector involvement by encouraging its investment in poverty elimination projects.
