The Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corp (Passco) has received 14 bids in response to a tender to import 150,000 tonnes of wheat at between $185 and $221 per tonne C&F, a company official said on Tuesday.
"We have evaluated all offers and a detailed report will be sent to the agriculture ministry for approval of successful bidders," the official, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters by telephone from Lahore.
"The government will approve successful bidders on January 8."
The official said the winning bidders would complete the shipment to Port Qasim on a C&F basis by February 15.
The Passco issued a purchase tender on December 24.
The official said traders from the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, the United States and Australia participated in the tender, offering soft and milling wheat from Australia, Canada, the United States and neighbouring India.
"A Singaporean party and a Dubai-based trader have offered Indian wheat, but they have not given assurances that the offered gains are free of Karnal bunt," he said.
"We will not consider their offers."
The official said another tender would be issued in January.
"Hopefully, we will issue another (import) tender in the second week of January but the quantity has not yet finalised," he added.
