The President, Tehrik-e-Istiqlal (TI) Rehmat Khan Wardag has congratulated President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on successful conclusion of the 12th Saarc summit and observed that it would enhance the country's image at the international level.
Talking to APP here on Tuesday, he said that the peak point of the conference was "historic meeting" between President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in which they discussed the bilateral issues.
He said, the two statesmen during their discussions had covered all the issues of both the countries, and thus had provided a lot of satisfaction to the people of the two countries.
TI chief said that the Saarc summit has made a major break through in the Indo-Pakistan bilateral relations, and hoped that the process of diplomatic talks between the two countries would be continued.
He hoped that the Islamabad Saarc summit will live up to the expectations of the peoples of India and Pakistan, and underlined the need that everyone of us should work to defuse confrontation and tension between the two countries, so that our future generations may live with peace and harmony.
He said that people of the two countries are eagerly looking forward to the success of peace process and hoped that the two governments of Pakistan and India would act with responsibility.
He also hailed the positive attitude of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) during the Saarc summit, and observed that they had demonstrated a sense of responsibility.
