Federal Railway Minister Ghaus Bukhsh Mehar, while expressing satisfaction over the performance of Pakistan Railways during first six months of the current fiscal, has exhorted the PR officials to continue work with the same spirit in the next six months so as to earn the handsome profit for the organisation.
He was addressing a meeting of the Railway officials here on Thursday, which was also attended by Pakistan Railways Chairman Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Railway Board Secretary Liaquat Arain, and others.
The minister was given a detailed briefing about performance of freight business of the railways on this occasion. It was informed that railways loaded 59,323 wagons in 2003, which were 19,711 wagons more than those loaded in 2002.
The Railways earned Rs 488 million more during this period, and succeeded in containing its freight deficit to Rs 367 million, the minister said, and assured to provide all out help to make freight business unit of Railways profitable.
