Swiss police said Saturday they had used rubber bullets to disperse up to 400 anti-globalisation activists protesting in the north-eastern town of Winterthur against the World Economic Forum (WEF), which is due to begin on January 21.
Police in Winterthur told the Swiss news agency ATS that several people had been arrested for damaging property in the town. Water hoses were also used against the protestors, they added.
About 200 people took part in the protest, according to police.
