12 Jan, 2004

LG Electronics Inc, South Korea's top home appliance maker, said on Sunday it would spend $300 million on overseas marketing to help boost global revenue by one fifth this year.
The company will also refurbish its Mexican plant to expand output of digital television sets in order to raise its profile in the North American market.
Global sales are projected to grow 20 percent this year from an estimated 29 trillion won ($24.55 billion) in 2003, LG said in a statement.
The company said on Saturday it would raise investment by 15 percent this year as part of a drive to become one of the world's top three electronics and telecommunications firms by 2010. It gave no details.
In October, the firm projected 2003 sales from its local unit at 19.6 trillion won to 19.8 trillion won, up 15 percent-16 percent from 18.6 trillion won in 2002.
LG is scheduled to release its 2003 results on February 6.
