Two Japanese skydivers killed

12 Jan, 2004

Two Japanese skydivers were killed on Sunday when they fell to the ground after their parachutes failed to open, police said.
They had jumped from 3,800 meters (12,540 feet) near Kawashima, 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of Tokyo.
"The two died instantly after their bodies were slammed into the ground," a police spokesman said. "Apparently they had trouble in opening their parachutes."
