The federal government on the request of the Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammed Khan Mahar has decided to release 100,000 tonnes of wheat to meet the shortage in the province, if any, sources said on Thursday.
Sources said that the release would be sufficient to meet the artificially created shortage by a few unscrupulous hoarders.
The chief minister has directed the food department officials to make arrangements for the storage of wheat so that it is neither destroyed nor damaged because of weather conditions.
Mahar has asked the officials to keep an eye on the hoarders and ensure help to the people in getting wheat flour on controlled rates.
The chief minister had also discussion with Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and exchanged views on the needs of the province.
