A case has been filed in Sindh High Court by Asghar A. Morawala, member, managing committee, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), seeking declaration that Riaz Ahmed Tata is the lawful President of FPCCI.
Further, that the 22 defendants, against whom he has also filed arbitration application, have no lawful authority to hold any meeting of FPCCI managing committee, with any agenda whatsoever, except under the authority of Tata, who has been named as respondent No 23.
The applicant, who is a member of Businessmen Panel, has filed the case versus Sohail Altaf and others, including Tata, as respondents.
The application seeks declaration for respondent No 23 to continue to be the lawfully elected President of FPCCI.
The application also seeks declaration in the same case against respondent No. 1, Sohail Altaf, that he has no right or authority to state himself as 'President' or 'acting President' of FPCCI.
The case came up for hearing on January 13 after the formation of arbitration tribunal on January 13 by now respondent No 23 in the case filed in Sindh High Court seeking the same relief.
