District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has directed for deploying more sanitary workers, increasing their working hours and washing major city roads with the help of fire brigade, during the special cleanliness drive to be launched the next month.
The Nazim was chairing a meeting held here on Friday to review arrangements for the campaign to be inaugurated on the first of coming month.
The meeting was attended by DCO Khalid Sultan, EDO (Revenue) Mian Ijaz, District Officer Solid Waste Rafiq Jatoi and other concerned officers.
Mian Amer said: "The special campaign is being launched in connection with Eid-ul-Azha, Jashn-e-Baharan and Horse and Cattle Show."
In view of the expected pressure on civic utilities, other service delivery agencies, including Wasa, Lesco and Sui gas, have also been directed for improving their working during these festivities.
"The purpose of this campaign is to present a cleaner picture of the provincial metropolis to the guests coming from other cities and abroad during the spring festival," observed the Nazim.
He appealed to the citizens of Lahore to refrain from throwing domestic waste out into the streets and roads and join hands with the City District Government for making the city clean.
Amer Mahmood also directed the concerned officials to set up a two-digit telephone help line for receiving public complaints during Eid and their immediate rectification.
