Lectra acquires Spanish apparel group

20 Jan, 2004

The world's leading French apparel company, Lectra, has announced acquisition of the famous Spain-based apparel group, Investronica Sistemas, world number three in apparel business.
Founded in 1980, Investronica Sistemas was initially created to serve the apparel needs of the Spain-based textile group, Induyco, one of the Europe's largest apparel companies.
It rapidly developed its activities outside the group on a world-wide basis, enjoying strong reputation for its technology.
With 2002 revenues of 58 million euros and seven million euros in net income and active in the same market sectors as Lectra and with similar product lines, Investronica is today number three world-wide behind Lectra, which is number one and followed by the US-based Gerber Technology, which is number two.
Investronica Sistema holds very strong position in Spain and Italy as well as in Eastern Europe and South America and has built more recently growing activities in China, India and south-east Asia.
With close to 200 employees, 60 percent of which are based in Spain, Investronica Sistemas, contrary to Lectra, has concentrated its direct sales and service operations mainly in Spain and Italy and developed its world-wide business through an indirect sales and service network of agents and distributors representing 25 percent of its global revenues.
