Textile exporters have appreciated the extension in SRO 410 and said that it will facilitate them to achieve the export targets.
Ahmad Kamal, Chairman All Pakistan Cloth Exporters Association (Apcea) in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that it was appreciable that government understands the problems of the exporters and was ready to help them in increasing the national exports.
He said that exporters were trying to switch over from SRO to Duty and Tax Remission for Export (DTRE) rules.
He said that 200 out of the total 1000 exporters are already availing from the facility of Duty and Tax Remission for Export (DTRE). However, he said that most of the small exporters are still importing raw material under SRO as they are facing some practical difficulties in switching over process from SRO to DTRE.
He said that government is very serious and intends to facilitate the exporters and this extension in temporary importation scheme is indicative of the government's firm resolve.
He said that extension in SRO 410 up to June 30, 2004 will facilitate the exporters of value added items to continue temporary imports and also remove the difficulties and bottlenecks in switching over to DTRE scheme.
APCEA chief further stated that exports are passing through a critical phase to improve the quality of their products to face the challenges of 2005. Hence they deserve full government's support and patronage from the government, he said and hoped that government will continue to interact with exporters and pay a sympathetic consideration to their problems.
Chairman Apcea assured that exporters would avail the facility of extension of time period in SRO 410 to prepare themselves to fully adopt DRTE scheme in greater national interest.
He also expected that in future government will avoid the practice of rampant policy change and only most imperative orders will be issued in consultation with the exporters.
