23 Jan, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) additional registrar returned a petition filed by M.D. Tahir against increase in flour prices. Additional registrar while justifying the act said the petitioner had not raised any legal point in his petition.
The petitioner contended in his petition that the respondent government instead of providing basic facilities to people was increasing the prices of daily use items.
He prayed to the court to direct the respondent govt to withdraw increase made in atta prices.
The court while disposing of a petition filed by a former railways employee, observed that under the constitutional provisions, courts could not indulge in the service matters.
The court directed the petitioner, a former booking clerk in Railways Muhammad Amin, to approach the Service Tribunal for redressal of his grievance.
