'Titanic' director sets sail with new film

"Titanic" writer/director James Cameron is preparing a follow-up feature, six years after his maritime saga smashed world-wide box office records, Daily Variety reported in its Thursday edition.
Cameron hopes to start shooting the untitled project, which he described as "a big-budget science-fiction film with a pile of special effects" later this year for 20th Century Fox with high-definition 3-D video cameras, the trade paper said.
Cameron announced his plans to sci-fi buffs on Tuesday during a question-and-answer session following a special Hollywood screening of his 1991 blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," the paper said.
Fox, a unit of News Corp's Fox Entertainment Group Inc, financed "Titanic" with Viacom Inc's Paramount Pictures.
Although it went way over budget, the 1997 film grossed $1.8 billion at the world-wide box office and won 11 Oscars, including best picture and director.
