Two minor girls were killed after being hit by 1-Up Peshawar-bound Khyber Mail in suburbs of Multan near Nadirabad Phatak, railway officers said on Tuesday.
DSP Railways Intezaar Hussain Qureshi and another railway officer confirmed the incident saying it occurred at the kilometer No. 82/0 between Muzaffarabad railway station and Multan cantonment railway station near Basti Khuda Dad in the city's suburbs.
Officers could not tell the names of the dead saying they were still collecting further information.
Eyewitnesses said, the girls were crossing the line from a point where a small road is crossing through the line where no railway gate exists. This passage, just two furlong away from Nadirabad Phatak, was being used by the people to cross the line to enter Basti Khuda Dad.
Railway officers said guard of the train had informed them about the incident according to which girls had appeared suddenly before the train and died at the spot after being hit.
Police handed over their bodies to legal heirs who reside near the railway line.
