A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) stayed the proceedings in an election petition filed against Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai, MNA.
Earlier a single bench of the august court dismissed the petition of Nakai. The petitioner again approached the court through his counsel Barrister Ali Zafar in which he contended that the election laws were stringent in nature and if the election petition was filed without proper and due verification it is liable to be dismissed.
He argued that in case of such defect in the election petition, the election tribunal could allow no rectification or amendment of the pleadings.
The bench, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, observed that the issue raised required consideration.
The court accordingly stayed further proceedings in the election petition before the election tribunal.
