Fifty-one people were killed in road accidents in one day in China and 61 others injured, the official Xinhua news agency said Wednesday.
The deaths happened on Monday, three days before last day of the week-long Spring Festival, or Lunar New Year holiday Thursday when migrant workers, students and tourists traditionally head back to cities for work or school.
In one of the accidents, eight people were killed and three injured when a farm vehicle carrying 15 people fell into a reservoir in Gutian county, in east China's Fujian province, Xinhua said.
