Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) on Friday floated six demands before the government on nuke scientists' issue.
Demands include publicising of letter issued by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); convening of joint session of parliament; taking masses into confidence on scientist's de-briefing matter; bringing to fore the accusations thrust on Dr Abdul Qadeer; blowing the lid of the reasons of releasing some scientists and apprising the nation about when the alleged leakage took place.
ARD Deputy Secretary Information Munir Ahmed Khan, while presenting the demands claimed that the adverse situation would had not stemmed out if Benazir Doctrine had been followed.
"Under the said Doctrine, an agreement for not exporting atomic technology was struck among the president, prime Minister and chief of army staff during Benazir regime," he said and regretted that the agreement was not put into force and hence such outrageous situation emanated. Munir Khan called the government a victim of contradictions on the issue of alleged transfer of atomic technology and accused the government of hiding the person responsible and making scientists, scapegoat.
He also charged government with camouflaging the facts about what sort of pressure and of whose is on the government over the said issue.
