The inter-school/collegiate Basketball and Throwball events were completed at AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium on Thursday which were organised by the AKU Sports & Rehabilitation Centre.
The City School (Darakshan Campus) clinched the basketball title beating Bayview High School by 49-47 score in the final. The exciting match was played neck to neck and at half time the score was 26-25.
Main scorers for the winners were Hamza Mir (18), Ali Ahmed (15), Fareed Abdul Fazal (9) while for the losers their main scorers were Salman Shafi (18), Warris Sebastian (13), Ghulam Rasool (8) respectively. Messr's S. M. Tanveer and Javaid Khan supervised the final match.
The Throwball final was won by Foundation Public School beating St. Patrick's High School by 2-1 games. The match was supervised by Ms Nuzhat Javaid and Ms Kauser Kamran.
Professor Dr Rukhsana Zuberi, Department of Family Medicine, AKU presented the winning trophy to the Foundation School Captain Faryal Shakir and runner-up's trophy to St. Patrick's Captain Yusra Taj.
Besides Yusta Taj was also awarded the best player of the Throwball tournament. Brigadier Rashid Ali Malik (Retd), former captain of Pakistan Basketball team was the chief guest and distributed prizes among the players of Basketball teams.
The City School's captain Ali Ahmed received winning trophy while Bayview High School skipper Talha Mashhadi received runner's-up trophy. Salman Shafi of Bayview High School was awarded best player of the Basketball tournament.
The chief guest Rashid Ali Malik paid tributes to the efforts of AKU organisers for organising such healthy activities especially for youths and appreciated state-of-the-art facilities at AKU Sports Gymnasium.
