Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated throughout the country on Monday with great religious fervour and enthusiasm to pay homage to sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
Special arrangements have been made for Eid prayers at the mosques and other open places.
The biggest congregation of Eid-ul-Azha prayers in the federal capital will be held at the Faisal Mosque. The faithful will also offer Eid prayers at many other mosques and open places in different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The Muslims will sacrifice animals after the Eid prayers, and then distribute the sacrificial meat among the deserving, who could not afford the sacrificial animals.
Special prayers would also be offered for the solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity among the Muslim Ummah.
The government has announced three holidays for Eid-ul-Azha.
Police and other law-enforcement agencies have made elaborate arrangements to ensure peace and security of the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Special police squads will be deputed around all the mosques and Imam Barghas at the time of Eid prayers.
Newspapers will bring out special editions to highlight the importance of Eid-ul-Azha while radio and television channels have prepared special programmes to mark the occasion.
The federal capital presented a deserted look on Sunday as people have already left for their native towns to celebrate the Eid with their family.
The Eid holidays have been extended to almost a week owing to a public holiday on February 5 to mark the Kashmir Day.
