Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has awarded Rs 17.6 million contract to Lahore-based firm Petrocom (Pvt) Ltd for carrying out civil, mechanical and electrical work in Adhi Field in Punjab.
The joint venture partner of Adhi Field had invited bids for the purpose in which, apart from Petrocom, four other bidders including Lahore-based AMS and Descom, and Karachi based ABS and PCL participated. However, the lowest bid was received from Petrocom, which was accepted.
Sources told Business Recorder that work, which started in the first week of January, would be completed by May 15, 2004. About the scope of work to be carried out by the firm, sources pointed out it includes manufacturing/installation of a loading terminal, crude oil pumping system, civil and electrical installation/fitting work etc.
They explained that three tanks for storage of crude oil, including the aforesaid system, will be installed in an area of 19,000 sq ft. Each tank will have 10,000 barrels of crude oil storage capacity. Four tanks are already in operation.
Sources added that after recent discovery of oil/gas from Well-13 drilled by PPL from Sakesar formation, this requirement has arisen.
They pointed out that joint venture partners of the field, PPL and OGDC, want to get more production from Sakesar formation in the field after successful discovery of crude oil from Well-13.
PPL, which is the operator of Adhi Field, plans to drill another four wells in the coming years. At present, drilling of Well-15 is underway.
Total production wells are seven in number ie, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Current average oil production is 3,500 barrels per day which is being supplied to Attock Oil Refinery.
Moreover, 22 mmcf gas per day is received from the field while 17 tons LPG is being sold to SUN, WAK Gas and CAP Gas companies.
