Bangladeshi taka stronger

The Bangladeshi taka ended stronger against the dollar on Wednesday in dull inter-bank trading following a three-day-long Eid -ul-Azha holiday, dealers said. The taka was quoted at 58.8250/58.8650 per dollar against 58.82/58.8750 on Saturday.
"The dollar was softer against the taka as there was little demand for the US currency in a quiet market," said a dealer with a private bank. Call money rates came down and ranged between 4.5 percent and 15 percent.
The call money rate shot up on Saturday and ranged between 14 percent and 50 percent ahead of the holidays.
"The pressure in the call market came down on Wednesday as the central bank injected funds through repos," a dealer with a private bank said.
Central Bangladesh Bank accepted repo bids worth 3.96 billion taka on Wednesday at interest rates ranging between 4.5 percent and 5.0 percent.
