The conglomerate of six religious political parties Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has given a strike call on Friday to hold rallies and public meeting to condemn government's attitude towards Dr A.Q. Khan.
An MMA announcement on Thursday has called upon the people to keep their commercial activities, schools and offices closed and public transport out of road.
The MMA has termed February 6 as "black day'. It has decided to tell the people "the truth" behind all actions that have been taken against Dr A.Q. Khan and other nuclear scientists.
In the meanwhile, the associations of the public transport owners have disassociated themselves from the MMA call.
They have said the issue has been settled as the Cabinet in its meeting on Thursday has already decided to grant his petition for clemency.
They said that politicisation of the issue was not in the interest of the nation.
