Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Saturday bitterly criticised Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for opposing its strike call to express solidarity with nuclear scientists on Friday and said Muttahida favoured the government in humiliating "son of Karachi" Dr A. Q Khan.
In a statement, MMA leader and JI's acting Karachi Amir Shaikh Rafique Ahmed felicitated citizens of Karachi for observing complete strike and said Friday's strike proved that nation supports nuclear scientists instead of the government.
He contradicted Muttahida claims that religious activists were involved in arson and creating law and order situation in the city, saying it was only Muttahida's legacy to snatch vehicles from transporters and its own sympathisers and then set them ablaze to scare people.
"Component religious parties of MMA believe in peaceful democratic struggle and they have never ever resort to violence to terrorise citizens or paralyse life in the country", he said adding that citizens of Karachi proved that they hate US and its agents in the city.
MMA leader alleged that their opponents were involved in disturbing peace in the city during Friday's strike as only they had the expertise to snatch and torch vehicles and use force to terrorise innocent citizens.
