No bird flu-related death in country: minister

Federal Health Minister Dr Naseer Khan on Sunday said that not a single bird flu-related death had occurred in the country.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, the Health Minister said elements having vested interests want to take advantage of prevailing situation in the country in the name of "bird flu" and added precautionary measures had been adopted to cope with any possible threats.
Dr Naseer Khan said that government was in constant touch with the health and livestock authorities in four provinces and added there is only scare in fact same does not exist at all, he observed.
Health Minister said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and he himself was monitoring the situation and added not a single death pertaining to the aforesaid disease had taken place so far in any part of the country.
Responding to another question, the Health Minister pointed out that a massive-crackdown had been planned on spurious drug makers and adulterators "very shortly" all over the country.
He said assistance of City District Governments and some non-governmental organisations will be sought in this end and added health to a common man was the main objective of the present government and clarified that Health Ministry would not hesitate from taking dire action against those playing with the lives of the ailing people in the society.
