Meeting of parliamentary panel on water put off

Meeting of the parliamentary committee on water resources headed by Senator Nisar Memon which was scheduled to be held here on February 10 and 11 has been postponed.
Nisar Memon had already arrived in Karachi to chair the meeting.
According to official sources, the meeting was postponed at the request of Sindh Government in view of absence of Governor who is on foreign visit and Chief Minister's visit to Islamabad on these days as well as delayed return of Irrigation Minister from Haj.
When contacted, Senator Nisar Memon said the new date for the committee meeting will be suggested by the Government of Sindh.
He said other members and officials, who were to arrive here for the meeting have also been informed about the postponement of the meeting.
It may be recalled here that the committee had initially started its deliberations in November 2003 and received presentations from Wapda, Irsa and Water and Power Ministry in Islamabad and subsequently held meetings at Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta. Finally it was due to meet in Sindh on February 10 and 11.
