THE RUPEE: rates fall in interbank market

The rupee on Monday shed two paisa against dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at Rs 57.47 and Rs 57.48, respectively.
The rupee fell marginally due to smooth supply of dollars, dealers said.
In the world markets, the greenback slid in terms of euro and yen, they added.
The euro gained 25 paisa (versus the rupee) for buying and selling at Rs 72.86 and Rs 73.16, respectively.

The dollar resumed trading at previous week's closing rate of Rs 57.25 and Rs 57.35 as its buying and selling rates, respectively.
At the end of the business session the dollar marginally appreciated its value and closed at Rs 57.30 and Rs 57.40 on buying and selling counters, respectively, the dealers said.
They said that the market on the whole trading remained dull due to weather conditions and transaction volume remained low.
The rupee remained depressed against the pound sterling. The British currency was purchased at Rs 106 and sold at Rs 106.30 as compared with the Saturday's closing rates of Rs 105.30 and Rs 105.60, the dealers added.
The dollar opened at Rs 57.20 (buying) and Rs 57.30 (selling) against the last rates of Rs 57.30 (buying) and Rs 57.40 (selling). It did not witness any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 57.20 (buying) and Rs 57.30 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.40 (selling) against the last rates of Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.20 (selling). British currency did not observe any further change in the second session and closed at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.40 (selling).
Canadian dollar opened at Rs 44 (buying) and Rs 44.10 (selling) against the same previous rates. It did not observe any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 44 (buying) and Rs 44.10 (selling).
