An official at Syria's state grains agency confirmed earlier trade reports that 200,000 tonnes of feed barley had been sold to Jordan's government.
"The deal was through a direct contract to sell 200,000 tonnes of black feed barley to Jordan but I cannot disclose the price," the source said.
Industry sources said the barley was sold fob for transport by truck from the agency's warehouses.
Traders said price details were unavailable but that the grain would be delivered between late February and early June, with about 50,000 tonnes arriving each month.
"It looks almost certain that Jordan will not be tendering for barley this year," one trader said.
