A book entitled 'The Shadow of Ram Rajya oover India' has been launched This book is about post-Independence events in India.
The author, Prem Nath Bazaz, is a well-known Kashmiri Pandit who was among the-pioneers of Kashmiri freedom and an ideologue of 'Kashmiriat'--which is the basis of self-determination for Kashmiris and a creed that represents the tolerance of multi-religious and multi-ethnic Kashmir.
Prem Nath Bazaz was the man who transcended religious allegiance while presenting the Kashmiri cause. He was an outstanding historian, eminent politician, and critic.
Bazaz exposed the top leadership of India and vehemently criticised Nehru, Gandhi, and other Indian leaders.
He was of the view that the Gandhian approach to thought and action was medieval and archaic, and not conducive to the progress and upliftment of Indian society.
The author has criticised the lip-service which leading Indian politicians paid to democracy and secularism. Bazaz thought that these leaders were insincere, and had used Gandhian policies merely to consolidate power and to serve their own selfish interests.
These egotistical politicians failed to alleviate poverty, unemployment, over-population, illiteracy, and rampant corruption.
Finally, Prem Nath Bazaz presented his vision for the amelioration of these ills and the upliftment of society.
He asserts that the aged politicians should make room for the younger generation who, through their sincerity, honesty and high morals, can raise the standard of public life.
This book serves as a powerful critique of contemporary trends in Indian politics and serves a valuable reference for serious observers, scholars and students of contemporary South Asian politics.
