Directive for ensuring safety of Wapda line staff

Voicing deep concern over the accidental deaths of line staff at work place, Habibullah Khan, Member Wapda (Power), has ordered the officials concerned to take all necessary safety measures to overcome this serious problem.
Addressing a meeting of the representatives of Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, including its General Secretary Khurshid Ahmed, Deputy Secretary General Iqbal Bhatti and others at Wapda House, he assured them that Wapda will take punitive measures to ensure safety of the line staff.
Wapda General Manager (operations) Malik Mohammad Tariq, Director (safety) Mirza Mohammad Yaqub, and Director (labour) Shabbir Ahmed also attended the meeting.
The Member Power on this occasion announced to set up training centres at the circle level to improve the training skills of the line staff.
He also directed the officials responsible for supervision of the line staff to ensure proper safety equipment to the staff. He also called upon the line staff to adopt safety measures strictly and ensure shut down prior to start working at 11 kv. lines.
Earlier, the labour union representatives informed the member Wapda about the factors leading to loss of life at work place, and underlined the need for promoting safety culture among the staff, and urged Wapda high-ups to play its role in achieving this goal.
