'Steps being taken to improve social development'

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi has said that the government was taking necessary measures and providing infrastructure for improving social development in the province.
He said this while talking to Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Huber and Spanish Ambassador Antonie here on Monday.
Pervaiz further said that already a new city was being planned near Murree, where five-star hotel accommodation, diplomatic enclaves, shopping malls and all necessary facilities would be provided.
This project was being initiated to promote international tourism in the province, he added.
According to him, a comprehensive plan has been chalked out to boost industrial development for this propose, the Punjab Industrial Development and Management Committee has been set up with the agenda to revive old industrial estates and establish new ones.
The chairman of the Committee is the representative of the private sector so that private-public partnership could be ensured and the private sector could avail the developmental opportunities that the government was throwing in their way.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Multan Industrial Estate was pivotal for development of southern Punjab, due to that reason the government has put the establishment of this particular estate on top priority.
The Canadian High Commissioner and the Spanish Ambassador appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab government and pointed out that the trade and cultural ties between Pakistan and Canada, and Spain have grown stronger.
