People from different categories including youngsters, women, veteran citizens, children below 12 years, disables and blind children would have to take part in the mini marathon race which beings on Friday in collaboration with daily Jang Multan, officials.
The women participants will take out national solidarity rally from Chungi No 9 to Qasim Bagh stadium at 3.00pm, he said. While giving details of mini marathon race, Multan DCO Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry said that district Nazim Riaz Qureshi would inaugurate the race and he asked the citizens to join the race for its success.
The competition among youth would start from Chowk Nawan Sher and the race participants to be reached Multan Qasim Bagh stadium after passing through Chowk Kutchery, Chungi No 9, Hazoori Bagh Road, he said.
Multan DCO Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry chaired the arrangement finalisation meeting, which chalked out detailed strategy in this regard on Friday.
The officials said mini marathon women race would start from Chungi No 9 and it would reach Qasim Bagh stadium after passing through Kheyiam cinema and water works road. Famous classic singer Suriyia Multanikar would inaugurate the race.
The mini marathon race of below 12 years children would start from Lohari gate while blind and disable children's race start from shrine of Bahauddin Zakariya. The veteran persons' up to 60 years old race would start from Aam Khas Bagh. All the three races would culminate at Qasim Bagh stadium.
The district administration has asked the general public to suggest veteran person whereabouts for inauguration of old men race. The officials said it has also been planned to perform cultural dance (Jhumur) on mini marathon race routs on February 19 to 20 just to involve the general public in the activity.
A numbers of prizes include 29", 14" color televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave oven, toaster and bicycles would be distributed among the winners at the end of race at Qasim Bagh stadium, said DCO.
