More than 40 people are believed to be killed on Saturday in north-eastern Brazil after a bus went off a cliff into a dam, police said.
The bus, which was heading from Fortaleza in the state of Ceara to Salvador in Bahia, was carrying 44 passengers, according to a preliminary list released by the highway patrol.
Rescue divers were sent to retrieve the victims, but police said they did not expect to find any survivors.
Police said they were not sure what caused the accident.
