Pakistani paramilitary authorities have seized a cache of arms and ammunition from a south-western town on the border with Afghanistan, officials said on Saturday.
The haul included 17 light machineguns, an anti aircraft gun and a canon as well as a large quantity of ammunition, paramilitary spokesman Colonel Rana Abdul Basit said.
He said the arms dump was detected during a raid on a house in Chaman late Friday.
"The arms of Russian and Chinese origin were smuggled into our territory from Afghanistan for terrorist activities," Basit said. No arrests were made but an investigation was underway to track down the culprits.
