Privatisation Commission clarification on status and source of Advisor's report

24 Feb, 2004

A spokesman of the Privatisation Commission has denied the statement made in a report carried on February 23, 2004 by "Business Recorder" that a copy of the Financial Advisor's advice, was obtained from the commission.
He said this was a baseless and incorrect allegation.
Highlighting the Financial Advisor's advice (a copy of which has been obtained by the newspaper from sources other than the PC), which was still under examination/scrutiny and thereby trying to raise controversy on the basis of its contents was not expected from a quality newspaper like Business Recorder, the spokesman stated.
The factual position in the matter, the spokesman further said was that various options were under consideration in the matter and advice from different experts including Financial Advisors had been solicited. Advice from any advisors and consultants was just that ie advice.
After the detailed examination of the issues involved and weighing all factors on merit, final recommendations which were considered in the best national interests, would be submitted for the government approval, the spokesman concluded.-PR
