CDGK to lay network of flyovers and underpasses

In line with the modern traffic/road infrastructure of international standard the CDGK has decided to lay a network of flyovers and under-bypasses to ease out the aggravating traffic congestion in the city.
In this respect, initially, after the completion of Shahrah-e-Faisal Flyover three under bypasses will be built.
The first three under-bypasses will be constructed at Hotel Mehran, Hotel Crown Plaza and Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah road respectively. While in the second phase, more flyovers will be built to interlink Sohrab Goth, Hassan Square, Sir Shah Suleman, I.I. Chundrigar and M.T, Khan Roads together.
According to a spokesman of CDGK, the city government has prepared to undertake the reconstruction and carpeting of all the important thoroughfares of the city at an estimated cost Rs 2 billion under the Tameer-e-Karachi Programme.
In this connection, the CDGK authority has also asked the concerned departments to submit their alternate route plans for the purpose. Further, development works on inter-town and other roads falling under the jurisdiction of CDGK will also be initiated soon after the completion of tender process.
Moreover, he pointed out that in order to complete the projects at international standard and on time the CDGK authority was using GIS based consultancy's Turnkey Formula wherein the contractors would also be liable to prepare the design of the projects.
