Stocks inched up on Wednesday as strong earnings from computer products supplier Ingram Micro Inc and high-end retailer Tiffany & Co tempted investors after five straight sessions of declines in the market.
The Dow Jones industrial average inched up 18 points, or 0.17 percent, to 10,584. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 1 point, or 0.15 percent, at 1,140. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 7 points, or 0.35 percent, to 2,012.
